Do You Believe That You Are a Gift?

In our efforts to combat abortion, euthanasia, child abuse, etc., we often will say “every life is a gift”. But do we really believe that? Do we believe that about every person? Do we believe that about ourselves?

We live in a world filled with hatred, disrespect, dishonor, and disbelief in God. Some might say that we believe too strongly that we are “gifts”, but despite our selfishness and self-centeredness, IMHO, I do not think that we truly believe that each and everyone of us are a gift. After all, how many times in our lives have we made the statement “He/She thinks he/she is God’s gift to the world”….and we do not say that as a compliment.

At the very least, even if we do believe it, we do not remember or believe that gifts are to be cherished, appreciated, shared, and loved even if we do not particularly “like” the gift that has been given to us or that the gift has been damaged in transit.

I truly believe that the hurt in the world does not come so much from evil, per se, but from our failure to recognize and, thereby, treat each other, or even ourselves, as gifts. When was the last time you made someone feel/know they are a gift? I know I rarely do..something I am sincerely trying to change.

So I am letting you know, here and now, if you are reading this – you are God’s gift to the world. You are a special gift. There is no other gift exactly like you. There is no other gift that can give to the world what you can give. There is no other gift that God loves more!

I thank God that He has given me such a dear and special gift as you!
