A Tribute to My Friend

My passion to love and serve others always seemed too much.
I longed to share and prayed someday someone’s heart I would touch.
As years turned into decades, I felt I so all alone.
I couldn’t hear You beckoning to come before Your Throne.

In my search for acceptance, I strayed so far from You.
I was so lonely, I thought you had abandoned me too.
Each time I prayed, my sins were ever before me.
I couldn’t ask You for forgiveness nor for Your Mercy.

Then the Holy Spirit led me to Your Sacred Presence.
There is where I learned the True Nature of Your Essence.
You are Love, Goodness, and Mercy,
And You are forever with me.

A servant’s heart You created in me,
But Your Truth I could not see.
It is not meant for me, the things that I longed,
In Your Heart is where I always belonged.

Although I may still struggle, I am coming to understand,
No matter what I face, we are joined hand in Hand.
I wanted someone to choose ME to love and be my friend.
You laughed and said I Am and will be until the end.
