What If You….

What if you were only allowed to ask God for 1 thing? What would your prayer be? Many would ask for world peace, end to suffering, the poor be fed and housed, families united, we would all “get along”, an end to crime, etc..

My prayer: that all would truly know God. If you truly know God, you will love God. If you love God, you will keep His commandments. If you keep His commandments, you will love your neighbor as yourself (for some of us “and” ourselves). If you love your neighbor as yourself there would be no war, no disputes, no poor, no “crime”. All would respect each other for who they are and all would recognize that who they are is dust with life breathed into them by a loving and merciful Creator. All prayers would be answered with this one prayer.

Remember, it was not God who turned away from us or stopped loving or believing in us. It was we who turned away from Him, stopped believing in Him, and in many ways even believers have stopped loving Him or at least showing that love for Him.

Others can tell you, advise you, teach you, mentor you. But you are wonderfully and uniquely made. The only way that you will ever truly know God is to ask Him to let you do so.

So , will you join me in asking: Who are You God? How can I get to truly know You and how can I help others to know You? Not the “Jansenistic” God, nor the “feel good” God – but the True God!

Let us pray: God grant that we may all truly know You!
