Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One – Have Mercy on me, a sinner.
Almighty One, I know that true humility is accepting Your Will in all things. Sincere humility can only be cultivated in total trust that Your Holy Spirit is guiding all things and that Your Will is completed through Him.
You know I struggle with my self worth which in itself hurts You and denies the beauty of Your Work, but when I am passed over, ignored, undervalued by others, I slither back into that doubt. I fail to remember that my talents and blessings are gifts from You; that I did not use those talents and blessings for Your Kingdom but only in the secular world. Now that I am trying to do so, how can I expect that You would make use of me? How can I expect that since I am not faithful in small things, that you would trust me with so great a task? Teach me your ways, oh God and give me the humility to accept them.
My Jesus, how often I have prayed the Prayer of Humility, only to offend you with my pride in my thoughts and even, at times, in my actions. I offer You this prayer once again that you will transform me and that I may give You glory in everything. Come Holy Spirit, make me Yours in every way; make me Yours every day!
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Yours. From self-will, deliver me, O Lord From the desire of being esteemed, deliver me, O Lord From the desire of being extolled, deliver me, O Lord From the desire of being honored, deliver me, O Lord From the desire of being praised, deliver me, O Lord From the desire to be preferred to others, deliver me, O Lord From the desire of being consulted, deliver me, O Lord From the desire of being approved, deliver me, O Lord From the desire of being understood, deliver me, O Lord From the desire of being visited, deliver me, O Lord From the pain and fear of being humiliated, deliver me, O Lord From the pain and fear of being despised, deliver me, O Lord From the fear of suffering rebukes, deliver me, O Lord From the pain and fear of being calumniated, deliver me, O Lord From the pain and fear of being forgotten, deliver me, O Lord From the fear of being ridiculed, deliver me, O Lord From the fear of being suspected, deliver me, O Lord From the fear of being wronged, deliver me, O Lord From the pain and fear of being abandoned, deliver me, O Lord From the pain and fear of being refused, deliver me, O Lord That others may be loved more than I, Lord grant me the Grace to desire it That others may be esteemed more than I, Lord grant me the Grace to desire it That others may be chosen and I set aside, Lord grant me the Grace to desire it That others may be praised and I go unnoticed, Lord grant me the Grace to desire it That others may be preferred to me in EVERYTHING, Lord grant me the Grace to desire it That others may become holier than I, provided I am as holy as I should be, Lord grant me the Grace to desire it At being unknown and poor, Lord, I want to rejoice When people do not think of me, Lord, I want to rejoice When they do not even deign to make use of me, Lord, I want to rejoice When they never ask my opinion, Lord, I want to rejoice When they leave me at the lowest point, Lord, I want to rejoice
