I went to sleep contemplating the inspiring thoughts and words of one Priest. I woke up to an email with inspiring thoughts from another. I could not help but smile over the similarities and differences in these 2 men of God. One walked into our Parish a year ago and immediately started making a difference in our lives. The other I have been friends with on FB for 2 years and his special forces got me through the last 2 months and final passing of my Mom.
Both are Parish Priests. Both are patriotic Americans (one naturalized, one born). Both have a special devotion to our Blessed Mother and rekindled my devotion also. Both are very aware of the spiritual battles being waged against God’s people. Both are committed to helping us win those battles. Both have inspired me in ways that helped (or are helping) make profound changes in me. Both have been Priests for nearly 20 years. At that point, the differences begin.
One entered seminary early, the other later. One is an absolute dynamic speaker filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit in all of his homilies while average size in physical attributes. The other is a soft speaker in delivery but larger than average physically. (Too funny, in rereading this, I realized I could actually be describing 2 of our own also in this paragraph).
One is rare to post on Social Media. Those posts are usually the sharing of data and articles that inform and/or inspire us to be better Catholics, better humans. Extremely rare are the posts of his own words or personal opinion even though he is one of the most profound thinkers I have met. The other posts several times a day, every day. Those posts range from sarcasm to insightful commentary and personal opinion with everything from soup to nuts, as the saying goes, but always from a traditional Catholic perspective.
But despite their difference in approach and attitude, they have one more thing in common that I rely upon: Both are single minded in doing everything for the Glory of God!
May God always grant us good and holy priests!
