Eucharistic Adoration: Knowledge

In my last post, I said the next topic would be interaction with others.  But I wanted to go more into topics that affect that interaction before moving on.

In trying to categorize this benefit, I wrestled with what would be the best word:  understanding, awareness, consciousness, etc.  When it came down to it, these are all synonyms of knowledge but each are a unique expression of knowledge.

What I have experienced in Adoration is both academic and spiritual knowledge.

I am blessed to Adore at 2 different Churches.  One of which has an entire bookcase of books and reading material that have offered me great opportunities for academic growth in my knowledge of God and my Faith.  I have often been moved to obtain my own copies of this material to further enhance that knowledge, even when I am not in His Presence.  Yes, this material is available elsewhere, but Adoration is what led me to pick up that book, or article, or resource that I otherwise could have missed.

The spiritual knowledge is much harder to explain, but is so real and exciting, I have to try.    As I contemplate the life of Jesus, pray a prayer (not just read or say the prayer) or even just reflect on my life situations, there is a much deeper meaning, understanding and meditation that comes when being in His True Presence.  I reflect differently on passages or prayers that I have read a gazillion times before.   I understand things that I have never understood before. I sometimes have a different perspective than ever before.  I have that spiritual knowledge that I never had before.

You have heard the expression “a lesson learned is knowledge earned”.  Well, the lesson you can learn is to respond yes to the question:  “Could you not watch one hour with me?”.
