Continuing the benefits of Adoration theme which started with https://blessedadorer.wordpress.com/2016/01/18/eucharistic-adoration-peace/
One of the most significant changes in me from participating in Eucharistic Adoration has been an increase in patience. As with the peace, I offer day to day experiences where the increase in patience has been obvious even to me.
I already mentioned traffic and the reduction of “reacting” to other drivers but on a different level, I find myself being more patient with the lights and delays. I find ways to distract myself. Saying a prayer, looking for a new song on the radio, making notes on what I need to do, or just looking at the surroundings and trying to find the beauty.
Shopping is another life necessity that I hate to do but I find that I am much more patient or tolerant when it comes to some of the stuff that makes shopping difficult. For instance, the person in the 15 or less checkout with 25 items; the cashier that seems to have difficulty multi-tasking; the person taking up 2 spots in the parking, etc., etc., etc. I could go on for days (LOL). But now when I catch myself getting impatient, I try to imagine what could be going on in their mind or life that could cause that behavior and either empathize or sympathize.
There has been a lot of posts on social media lately regarding children and their behavior. You know, the tantrums in stores, the loud talking or crying in restaurants, the running around or fidgeting at Mass. I have always loved kids, but I too would get very annoyed at those times especially at Mass. But really not that much anymore. I look at the child and think first and foremost they are a blessing. At Mass or even in Adoration, I remember how much Jesus loved children and wanted them to be around Him.
In rereading these 2 posts, I noticed a common theme that could be taken from them and that is a change in attitude. So that will be the next topic I will tackle.
